Moments in Black History

You know those cookies that everyone loves to eat, but we swear there is never enough in the bag…. Famous Amos Cookies? Created by a black man, Wally Amos.

Guess what black woman, who also attempted to run for POTUS, survived three assassination attempts? Yes sir, Shirley Chisholm. She was a congresswoman and the attempts happened in 1972.

Even though you all probably think it is racist and want a change, don’t act like you don’t use Aunt Jemima’s syrup. She is designed after a former slave; who has/had a lifetime contract with the company. Guess whose family is paid (and we finally have a name for her) Nancy Green.

The inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel (and the unfortunate term) Uncle Tom’s Cabin was Josiah Henson. Background of him, he did as he was told, but not because he believed that was what he was supposed to do and “yes suh massa, anything you say boss.” He, like so many of us still do today, was hoping for appreciation and individuals being “men” of their words. And clearly you can get fed up because he ran with his family. They settles in Ontario, Canada. (Thank him for Drake lol)
