Let me introduce you to the man that REALLY invented the telegraph, telephone, etc. and got it patented BEFORE Thomas Edison and Alexander Bell. (Both of whom tried to buy the rights from under him.) Most important it the ability to transmit telegraphs and words from train stations to mobile trains.
He holds over 50 patents and also credited with some rail work. His patents and inventions were used by Bell, Edison and George Westinghouse. He died January 30, 1910 and it wasn’t until 1975 he was given a marked grave and headstone; a shame that someone had to BEG the companies that use his products to help with this.
